You don’t have to put up with shoulder pain. We aim to restore your full range of motion by finding the cause of your discomfort and treating it with the least invasive approach possible.
The most common shoulder conditions and injuries include:
- Tendonitis

Conservative, consistent treatment may be all you need to reduce pain and inflammation in your shoulder, especially if your pain is caused by overuse of your shoulder joint. These treatments may include cold or heat therapy, shoulder rest, physical therapy or medication.
Rotator cuff surgery.
Your orthopedic specialist may recommend surgery to repair damage to your rotator cuff. The most common causes of severe rotator cuff injury requiring surgery include:
- Falls
- Lifting
- Pulling
- Repeated overhead activities such as pitching, swimming and painting
Our orthopedic surgeons use the latest in joint repair technology to cut down on your recovery time.
What to expect from rotator cuff surgery.
Our goal is to make your shoulder stronger, improve your range of motion and reduce daily pain.
Most shoulder surgeries are outpatient procedures so you can go home that same day. Our surgeons are able to perform many shoulder repair surgeries arthroscopically, which means your surgeon can see and work inside your shoulder joint using just a few small incisions.
That means a faster, less painful recovery so you can get back to what’s important to you.
Your doctor will follow up with a recovery plan that will include exercises, physical therapy or occupational therapy as well as any follow up care you may need.
Success Story: Trudy
Rotator cuff repair
Trudy loves golf, swimming, and being outdoors so she didn't know if her shoulder injury was the result of one particular movement or if it was due to simple overuse. She just knew that there was definitely something wrong. She made an appointment with Health First orthopedic specialist, Dr. Richard Harrison.
"After a thorough evaluation, he had determined that I had a tear in my right rotator cuff,” Trudy said. “He gave me several treatment options and that was really important to me. I felt like I truly had a say in how I was going to overcome this pain. I tried to avoid surgery through cortisone injections and therapy, but when those didn't give me the pain relief I needed, I decided to have surgery."
